Professor Rob Lue, Faculty Director of HarvardX, addresses the digital evolution of teaching and learning, and what it means to for the future of higher education as part of Harvard Thinks Big.
The increasing popularity of the MOOC (Massively Open Online Course) and online learning has generated many questions about what this means for brick and mortar institutions, for small liberal arts colleges, for two year colleges, and for higher education as a whole. Many think we are at a moment of digital disruption, that something entirely new in higher education has replaced what was.
Lue points out that we are instead at a point of digital transformation or digital evolution. He believes that it is up to us to reflect on what the physical institution experience is today and to drive the evolution forward.
